Worlds Best Trout Lure's
TIP OF THE WEEK
What is on your hands?
Shimano Sedona
Trout have a great sense of smell. Your actions before you start fishing can alter how many fish you will catch. Gas, oil, cleaning products, and other day to day smells can get on your hands and onto your lures. I am confident it makes a difference. This can change how long they will hold onto a lure. We use Zap A Gap glue on the Trout Magnet when we use a fly rod and I can see the fish spit the lure faster because of the glue.

How do you prevent this from happening? First you try to keep your lures away from anything that might have strong odors. Second, try to rinse your hands in the river before you start fishing. I will take some of the coon tail moss in our river and use it like soap on my hands to remove the oil and other odors that are not normal to trout. I know a lot of good fly fisherman that rub their flies in the moss before they start fishing.

Clean hands and lures will make a difference in how many fish you will land. The extra second they hold onto your lure will make a big difference!
